If you want to learn more about building your author platform, about self-publishing, or about any other writing-related topic, I would highly suggest that you check out Author Platform Summit.
When a friend first invited me to sign up for the free video series, I was not sure what to expect. Would I really find information relevant to someone like me, who was already published but still relatively new to the whole publishing industry? Would the ideas be practical and achievable, or were they only for gurus who already had a foot in the door and opportunities to leverage?
Honestly, I am so glad I overcame my reservations, because my experience with this video series has been nothing but fantastic.
Daniel Decker, book marketing and platform building expert, interviews 21 experts, from entrepreneurs and self-published authors to social media marketing specialists and professionals at large publishing houses. The practical advice and resources that this varied group brings to the discussion has given me a mountain of ideas and tips to incorporate in my own writing/platform building efforts.
As an added bonus, Daniel Decker created a final video thatanswers 33 specific questions from people who watched the video series, addressing platform building, publishing, the writing craft, and more.
Have a notebook handy when you watch these videos. Jot down ideas that you find interesting and make note of the resources that are mentioned. Summarize each video's main take-away concept. Each video is about 8 to 20 minutes long (okay, the 33-question one is just over an hour), so they are easy to watch over breakfast on your tablet.
Given the genuine value that I personally have gleaned from this series, I sincerely hope Daniel Decker hosts another Author Platform Summit in the future!
