My sister challenged me to write a story based on this prompt in my Pinterest "Writing Prompt" board. I had no idea how it would go, but I started to write anyway, because I'm a pantser.
(Definition: Someone who writes "by the seat of their pants.") And waddaya know! I found a plot. I bit into the pizza, chewed, and swallowed. Weird flavor, but kind of tangy. I liked it.
Tell me which prompt you want me to write next!

![]() I have been so inspired by #WIPjoy hosted by Bethany Jennings of Simmering Mind and by #ABookTaughtMe hosted by The Fellowship of Fantasy that I have started my own hashtag tour for October 2016. Introducing... #CreativeGremlin This little guy is my version of Creative Gremlin, but I know there are more gremlins out there, each as unique as the authors they plague--ahem--serve. I can't wait to meet them! So, a little more about Creative Gremlin and the October tour... ![]()
Pinterest is a black hole of time for writers, but there are some perks for those who are willing to plumb its endless depths. For example, writing prompts.
I've been amassing a board on speculative fiction writing prompts for a while and now I open it up to you. Go through. Pick a prompt that you would LOVE to read as a 5-minute fiction or short story. I will write it. Sound fun? Excellent. Continue for details.
This month, I've been participating in two different challenges. The #ABookTaughtMe challenge encourages me to share about the books that have taught me different things about life. The #WIPjoy challenge prompts me to share different aspects about my work in progress. If you've been following me on Twitter and Facebook, you know that I'm very inspired by these challenges and have been sharing every day. So I wanted to share some things that won't fit into a Tweet.
Did you know that speculative fiction fans have their own term? That's right, they're called spekkies! I didn't know that until about a year ago, but now it's my new favorite term.
I put together a short video to help you explain to your friends what speculative fiction is and why being a spekkie is awesome. Enjoy and share! |
