Several years ago, I held a short poll on my website, asking readers to come up with a cool science fiction or fantasy book title. I would write a short story about it.

One reader came up with the title of WINGS BENEATH WATER.

The title ignited my imagine and my story went through several developments (and won an award as a short story) before it reached its current form today.

So, in preparation for its release on March 31st, I am sharing the cover today!

I originally set out to do the cover myself in GIMP (I've done other covers on my own) but after several attempts I realized that I cared too much about my story to let my limitations define the story's first impression for potential readers.

I happened to have met the owner of Magpie Designs LTD online and I really liked her work, so I asked her to take a stab at WINGS BENEATH WATER. We worked together and I can honestly say that the finished cover fantastically fits my vision for WINGS BENEATH WATER. She did a fantastic job! (Thank you, LoriAnn!)

“They say when you see wings beneath the water, you get a second chance to live.”

Brother.
Ever since Risha was found on the shores of the river and adopted into the tribe, he and his brother Uraun have been inseparable. But when a neighboring tribe ignites war, killing the boys’ father, their lives start on a path that begins to divide them.

Siyeen.
As the tribe goes to war, Risha’s gift awakens. He is the Siyeen, capable of reading a person’s true nature—and in Uraun’s nature, he reads only vengeance.

Fearing that his gift will endanger Uraun, Risha flees to the marshes. To save his brother’s soul, Risha must learn the secrets of the first Siyeen and seek the redemption that will grant his brother a second chance.
This is what one advance reader had to say about WINGS BENEATH WATER:
I just finished WINGS BENEATH WATER and I almost cried at the end! I was literally wiping tears from my eyelids! I was not expecting that at all!

I loved how you took the saying from the beginning and told this story that had a very distinct tone and plot. It was awesome as a reader to see Risha grow as the Siyeen and even question if he was doing the right thing as a truth-bearer. I felt it made him more relatable as a hero because though he is the Siyeen, his struggles are very real.

I love the relationship Uraun and Risha have! I loved how you wove a story of the bond of brothers and loving another so much. The ending was very powerful, with Risha giving his brother a second chance to really see the truth.

Overall, this was an excellent story! I would definitely recommend it to fantasy readers! I'm so excited for its release!

Congrats Yaasha! It looks AMAZING! I can't wait to see it in person. I loved this story! The characters are so well-developed you can't help but feel for the at the end of the story. And from what I understand you have expanded it since I read it last. Must be amazing! I will be waiting with the utmost anticipation... :)

Rose, I got the proof copy yesterday. It looks even better as a book! And yes, I believe you read one of the early versions. The new version has a lot more about Uraun and Risha's relationship.
