Fun Reads: When Destiny Comes Calling

I've been following authoress Gillian Bronte Adams for a while, and, for those of you who enjoy fantasy, her interactive serial "When Destiny Comes Calling" is a delightful read. The story follows Alexander Mitus Scott Beauford III, an unexpected hero who finds himself pulled into an adventure led by none other than Destiny herself. At the end of each episode, the authoress offers 3 options for the start of the next installment, readers vote on their favorite, and the adventure continues.

The tongue-in-cheek humor is, for me, especially entertaining. Take, for example, this snippet from episode eight:
What hope had he of succeeding in a military career when everyone assumed that he would respond to expected danger with complaints, excuses, and cowardice?

No, Alexander Mitus Scott Beauford III was a man of honor and dignity, of an ancient and proud (albeit once treasonous) lineage. He was not a trembling wretch who must be coerced into action.

If heroism was his destiny, and death his fate, then by Gilbert St. Vincent (of the legendary Mounted Chevaliers), he would face it with head held high, shoulders back, and a trusty pistol in both hands.

“Dearie me.” [Unnamed so I won't spoil the story for you] clucked her tongue at Alexander... “What is that expression on your face? One would think you had just eaten sour apples.”

His shoulders slumped. “I’m looking heroic.”

Miss Destiny sniffed and tossed her dark head. “Yes, you do that. A little practice won’t go amiss. Meanwhile, it’s time we were on the road. Our enemies cannot be far behind.”

Thanks so much for sharing this, Yaasha! I'm a bit in love with Alexander and Destiny myself, so I always get excited when other people enjoy it. :)
